This course provides a clear and concise overview of Medicare, the federal health insurance program for individuals 65 and older, and certain younger individuals with disabilities. Participants will learn the basics of Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance), Part B (Medical Insurance), Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans), and Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage). The course breaks down what each part covers, how enrollment works, associated costs, and how to choose the right combination of coverage. Whether you’re approaching eligibility, helping a loved one, or simply want to better understand your healthcare options, this course will equip you with the foundational knowledge needed to make informed decisions. Perfect for individuals, caregivers, or professionals working with older adults. Presented by Stephanie Villanueva and Lisa Schumacher.
Stephanie Villanueva works with the Healthcare Solutions Team grew up in the western suburbs and spent most of her career in dentistry before deciding she wanted to serve people in a different way. Today, she helps clients (Individuals, Families, Small Businesses) of all ages navigate their health insurance and Medicare options with clarity and confidence. Outside of work, Stephanie is actively involved with local Chambers of Commerce and volunteers at community events. She enjoys spending time with friends and family and values being connected to the community.
Lisa Schumacher works with LifeSmart Senior Services and has been helping seniors navigate the Medicare process for over 7 years. She enjoys putting the confusing Medicare puzzle pieces together for you. All the letters the A's, B's C's and D's of Medicare. Today she will be explaining the Medicare Basics for you to give you a better understanding of how it works.

Join us as John Lynn narrates part one of his odyssey across America. In this part, he tells us about his trek from the Pacific Ocean to the Mississippi River using historical paths as well as other scenic ones, all the while hiking, biking, and paddling. Part two, Scenic America: Coast to Coast, Part 2: The Mississippi River to the Atlantic Ocean will take place on September 14. You may register for both!
John Lynn of Peoria has photographed all 2400 Illinois cities and towns. He has also, hiked, biked, and paddled enough historic and scenic trails, roads, and rivers in America and Britain to circle the globe. Featured on the front pages of the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times, sponsored by the British Council and the Illinois Humanities Council, and described by WGN Radio as "a walking encyclopedia of Illinois", he has shared his experience and discoveries with over 4700 audiences in three countries.
