Summer Concert Series
June 9, 2023 (12-1 pm): The StingRays



The StingRays will play the greatest Rock & Roll hits. Come out for the fun!


Summer Concerts are held in front of the library in the Dominic Froio Memorial Garden (with limited shade). Folding chairs will be provided, but for maximum comfort you are welcome to bring your own chair and/or hand-held shade umbrella. Popcorn, water, and ice cream will be available for purchase from the Friends of the Library. Fun concert giveaways available, while quantities last.

Attend all 3 Summer Concerts and get your entry sheet stamped at each one to be entered into a drawing for gift cards after the final concert in August.

Summer Concerts are held rain or shine - concerts will move indoors for inclement weather.

Summer Concert Series
July 14, 2023 (12-1 pm): Shock the System


Chicago-area cover band playing hard rock gems from the late 60s to early 80s including Kiss, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, and more!

Ice Cream Social
Thursday, August 3, 2023 (5:30-8:30 p.m.) Celebrate the end of summer reading with ice cream novelty treats!
Join us in the BPL parking lot for:

  • ice cream $1.50 each (with tickets purchased at event)
  • popcorn 50¢ each (with tickets purchased at event)
  • iced coffee $1 each (with tickets purchased at event)
  • no bills over $20 accepted for library refreshment tickets
  • Milo's Lemonade - giving free samples

This year we will have 2 food trucks, Doctor Dogs and Taco 'Bout It.

9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Village Complex Lots (Police & Fire Departments and Park District)

  • Halloween-themed Tours & Hayride (Fire Department until 12:00 p.m., Police Department until 1:00 p.m.)

    Payment accepted at food trucks is at the discretion of the individual company and not BPL.

Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for trick-or-treating activities. Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult. To ensure participant safety while walking through the various facility parking lots during this event, parking will be PROHIBITED in the parking lots. Please park in the surrounding residential area.

Snowman Crossing (Community Decorated Trees)
All community groups and organizations in Bloomingdale are invited to decorate a tree that will be displayed throughout the month of December on the library grounds. For more information, please call Jamie Schingoethe in the Business Office at (630) 924-2721 or email at jschingoethe@mybpl.org.

Annual Holiday Open House
Tuesday, November 28
6:45 - 8:45 p.m.

Stop by the library for this fun open house! We begin at 6:45 p.m. outdoors, when our special guest arrives to light our holiday trees for the season. We then move inside for entertainment, crafts, snacks, and more!

Winter Reading Program - Get Your Mitts on a Good Book!

December 11, 2023 through February 2, 2024

Registration opens December 11 for all ages. Four ways to register:

Cozy up with a warm drink and read! For every 120 minutes logged, earn an entry into our
grand prize drawing.
Grand Prizes: $25 Amazon gift card (2 winners) | BPL branded tote bag (1 winner)

Youth (Infants through 6th grade):
Join our Winter Reading challenge! Log 180 minutes to earn a free book. Turn in your log at
the Youth Services desk by Friday, February 2 to receive your book prize and be entered into
the Grand Prize Drawing.

Using Previous Registrations: If you previously registered for any 2022-2023 library reading programs, your login information is also valid for Winter Reading and all future reading programs.
Family Registration: You can register all family members under one account. Start your family registration at the Adult Services Desk.
Logging Minutes: Kids, teens, and adults all log minutes. Paper logs are also available at the Adult and Youth Services Desks. Reading to your child or sibling? Those minutes count for you, too!
Beanstack App: Download the optional app for Apple or Android to easily track minutes and stats like reading streaks. The app makes participating fun and easy!
