Storytimes

Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each storytime runs for six weeks.

Spring Stortyimes will begin the week of March 4th and end on April 19th.
There will not be storytimes for the week of March 25-29.




Happy Books, Happy Cooks (Ages 3-5) *R*

Mondays, March 4 - April 15
7:00-7:30 p.m.

Registration is required.


Preschool Storytime (Ages 3-5, Drop-In)

Tuesdays, March 5 - April 16
10:30 - 11:15 a.m.

Registration is not required. Limited to the first 20 children to arrive.


Toddler Storytime (2-3 years with caregiver, Drop-In)

Wednesdays, March 6 - April 17
10:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Registration is not required. Limited to the first 20 children to arrive.


Romper Rhymes (3-15 months with caregiver) *R*

Thursdays, March 7 - April 18
9:45 – 10:30 a.m.

Registration is required.


Budding Readers (16-23 months with caregiver)*R*

March program registration for Bloomingdale Library cardholders is currently open.
April program registration for Bloomingdale Library cardholders will begin Monday, March 25.
For non-residents registration opens one week before each program begins.


1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Or you can sign up right here.


Fort Night *R* (Families)

Monday, March 25
7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Do you like building forts? Come to our ultimate fort building party. Bring a blanket and your imagination, build a cool fort with friends, then cozy up with a snack and your favorite books.


Sponge Painting Soiree (Drop-In, All Ages)

Tuesday, March 26
10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Roll back your sleeves, and dip and dab to create your own sponge paint scene. We’ll provide the sponges and paint, you bring the creativity! Dress for mess.


Perler-palooza! (Drop-In, Grades 3-6)

Wednesday, March 27
1:00-4:00 p.m.

Registration is not required.

Drop in anytime between 1:00-4:00 p.m. and take your fuse bead designs to the NEXT LEVEL with intricate templates and stunning designs!


Spring Break Coloring (Drop-In, All Ages)

Wednesday, March 27

Registration is not required.

Come color our large murals covering several tables in our Youth Department.

Enjoy the matinee with some popcorn! Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.


Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead *R* (Grades K-2)

Mondays, April 1, April 15, April 29 and May 13
4:15-5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Each month we will cover a STEAM subject while incorporating fundamental skills of reading, writing, computation, coding and problem solving.


Storytime with a Surprise at Stratford Square Mall (Drop-In, All Ages)

Thursdays, April 4 and May 2
11:00-11:45 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Join us at Stratford Square Mall (meet in the Lower Level Café Court near the center of the mall) and receive a treat for being a good listener! All ages welcome; caregivers must remain with their children. December will be a special storytime with Santa!


Craft Time (All Ages, Drop-In)

Thursdays, April 4 and May 2
3:00–8:00 p.m.

Registration is not required.

Stop by the Youth Services department the first Thursday of every month to make a fun craft. We’ll supply all the materials needed.


Fairy Tale Ball (Drop-In) (Ages 3-10 with caregiver)

Saturday, April 6
1:00- 3:00 p.m.

Registration is not required.

Every Prince, Princess, Knight, and Jester between the ages of 3 and 10 are welcome to drop-in! Wear your shiny suit of armor, sparkly ball gown, or come dressed like your favorite fairy tale creature. Join us for an afternoon of fun and fantasy.


Storytime, Milk, and Cookies at Panera (All Ages, Drop-In)

Mondays, April 8 and May 13
9:30–10:15 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Enjoy a special storytime and nibble on some yummy cookies and milk from Panera!

Money Smart Week for Kids *R* (Grades K-2)

Monday, April 8
4:15 – 5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

The Bloomingdale Bank and Trust will teach children to be Money Smart. Participants will receive a gift to take home.


Build a Project with Little Bits *R* (Grades 3-5)

Thursdays, April 11
4:30-5:15 p.m.

Registration is required.

The library just received an exciting collection of Little Bits! These toys make building and inventing electronic gadgets for kids fun and easy. Join us as we talk about the basics and start building a gadget. Provided through a generous donation from the Friends of the Library.


Homeschool Meetup: Good Vibrations Musical Mayhem *R* (Families)

Thursday, April 11

Registration is required.

Come explore how sound works and its effects on everyday materials. Take home a musical project.


Sensory Time *R* (Ages 3-8 with caregiver)

Registration is required.

A time at the library for special needs children filled with stories, songs, games, sensory stations and more. Please email us at bdys@mybpl.org if your child has special needs and interests that we would need to know in order to serve them better. This will be a new monthly program.


Party with Elephant and Piggie *R* (Grades K-2)

Everyone loves a party especially if it is an Elephant and Piggie party!


Easter Beagle Eggstravaganza Storytime (Drop-In, All Ages)

Registration is not required.

The family is invited for some eggstra special activities and crafts for this special storytime and a visit from the Easter Beagle! We "hop" to see you there!


LEARN with LEGOs for Preschoolers *R* (Ages 3-5)

Tuesday, April 23

Registration is required.

Build with LEGOs and build your child’s school readiness too! Come to the library for Lego learning and fun. Practice STEM with Legos!


Baby Prom (Drop-In) (Ages 0-3)

Thursday, April 25
10:30- 11:00 a.m.

Registration is not required.

It's prom season! Don't let the big kids have all the fun, though. Wear something fancy and bring your little one to the library for some songs, movement, and photos in front of a backdrop! Black-tie onesies are optional.
