Storytimes

Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each storytime runs for six weeks. Winter Storytimes will return January 2020.




Readers and Eaters (Grades K-2) *R*

November registration for Bloomingdale Library cardholders is open.
December and January registration for Bloomingdale Library cardholders begins Monday, November 25.
Non-residents may register one week before each program begins.


1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Or you can sign up right here.


Come Together (0-24 months w/ adult, Drop-In)

Every Thursday
10:00- 11:30 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Every Thursday meet and chat with other parents & caregivers while your child socializes and explores with hands-on toys.
Please note there will be no Come Together on December 26 and January 2.


Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead *R* (Grades K-2)

Mondays, January 20, February 3, February 17, March 2 and March 16
4:15-5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Each month we will incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math concepts through engaging experiments, activities and projects. Please register for each class.


Craft Time (Drop-In, All Ages)

Thursdays, February 6 and March 5
3:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Registration is not required.

Stop by the Youth Services department anytime between 3:00-8:00 p.m. to make a fun craft. We’ll supply all the materials needed.


Storytime, Milk, and Cookies at Panera (Drop-In, All Ages)

Mondays, February 10 and March 9
9:30–10:15 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Enjoy a special storytime and nibble on some yummy cookies and milk from Panera!

We Love eBooks, You Can Too! (Drop-In) All Ages

We have a lot of e-books and e-audio books for kids available through the Bloomingdale Library. Come to the youth service desk during these times and we will walk you through getting started and help you find some great books for your kids!


Finger Looping Fun (Drop-In) Grades 3-6

Sensory Time *R* (Ages 3-8 with caregiver)

This program is especially for children with autism, sensory processing and other special needs. We will engage the senses through music, stories, motor activities and sensory stations. Please email us at bdys@mybpl.org about your child’s special needs so we can serve them better. Siblings welcomed.
