Storytimes

Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each storytime runs for six weeks. Summer Storytimes begin the week of June 17 and end July 26. There is no storytime on July 4.

Summer storytimes requiring registration are open to Bloomingdale Library card-holders only. Registration will open May 28.




Happy Books, Happy Cooks (Ages 3-5) *R*

Mondays, June 17 - July 22
7:00-7:30 p.m.

Registration is required.


Preschool Storytime* (Ages 3-5, Drop-In)

Tuesdays, June 18 - July 23
10:30 - 11:15 a.m.

Registration is not required. Limited to the first 20 children to arrive.


Toddler Storytime* (2-3 years with caregiver, Drop-In)

Wednesdays, June 19 - July 24
10:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Registration is not required. Limited to the first 20 children to arrive.


Romper Rhymes* (3-15 months with caregiver, Drop-In)

Thursdays, June 20- July 25
9:45 – 10:30 a.m.

Registration is required.


Budding Readers* (16-23 months with caregiver, Drop-In)

Thursdays, June 20- July 25
11:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Registration is required.


Family Storytime (All Ages, Drop-In)

Fridays, June 21 - July 26
10:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Registration is not required.

April and May program registration for Bloomingdale Library cardholders is currently open.
For non-residents registration opens one week before each program begins.


1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Or you can sign up right here.


Fly Away Butterflies

Registration is not required.

Have you ever seen a caterpillar change into a butterfly? Starting on April 26 we will have the caterpillars here at the library and everyone can watch them as they cocoon and then become butterflies! On May 16th at 4:15 p.m., after they transform, we will watch the butterflies fly away!


Storytime, Milk, and Cookies at Panera (Drop-In, All Ages)

Mondays, May 13 and June 10
9:30–10:15 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Enjoy a special storytime and nibble on some yummy cookies and milk from Panera!

Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead *R* (Grades K-2)

4:15-5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Each month we will cover a STEAM subject while incorporating fundamental skills of reading, writing, computation, coding and problem solving.


Butterflies, Bugs and Bees (Drop-In, Ages 3-5)

Registration is not required.

Spring is in the air, come learn about the traits of our insect friends through books, crafts and more!


Fly Away Butterflies! (Drop-In, All Ages)

Homeschool Meetup
Art Series- Watercolor Workshop *R*(Grades 1-6)

Wednesday, May 22
1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Come explore watercolors and take home a mini masterpiece! Projects will vary by age.


Time for Toys (Drop-In, Ages 3 months-5 years with a caregiver )

Registration is not required.

Tuesdays with Toys is an informal program giving parents with small children the opportunity to meet and talk with other parents, while children play with toys and games. Toys and games are most appropriate for children ages 3 months to 5 years.


Storytime with a Surprise at Stratford Square Mall (Drop-In, All Ages)

Thursday, June 6
11:00-11:45 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Join us at Stratford Square Mall (meet in the Lower Level Café Court near the center of the mall) and receive a treat for being a good listener! All ages welcome; caregivers must remain with their children. December will be a special storytime with Santa!


Craft Time (Drop-In, All Ages)

Thursday, June 6
3:00–8:00 p.m.

Registration is not required.

Stop by the Youth Services department the first Thursday of every month to make a fun craft. We’ll supply all the materials needed.
