Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each program runs for six weeks. Summer storytimes begin the week of June 19 and end the week of July 28.

Family Storytime (All ages)

Fridays, 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Registration is not required.

Preschool Storytime (Ages 3-5)

Tuesdays, 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. and Mondays 1:15 - 2:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

Romper Rhymes (3 - 15 months)

Thursdays 9:45 - 10:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

Budding Readers (16 - 23 months)

Thursdays 11:00 - 11:30 a.m
Registration is required.

Time for 2's (24 - 36 months)

Wednesdays, 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Storybook Trail – Move! By Steve Jenkins

Back for Spring! Take a walk or ride your bike along the Storybook Trail at Circle Park and enjoy the outdoors while reading. This family-friendly trail is co-sponsored by the Bloomingdale Public Library and the Bloomingdale Park District.
Circle Park is located at 163 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale, IL

Registration for May programs is on-going. June program registration begins Tuesday, May 30. July program registration begins Monday, June 19.

Bloomingdale Chess Club(Drop-in, Grades 3 and up)

Wednesdays, June 7- August 2
Registration is not required.

Participants will have the opportunity to play many games over the course of the summer and time will be given for questions and instruction. Kids aged 8 to 18 are welcome.

Design A Salad Gardening Program (Grades 2-6)

Mondays, June 12- July 31 4:00-4:30 p.m.
Registration is required.

We’re growing a garden and you can help! Our first session will have a special presenter and each meeting will focus on a different activity or stage of our garden’s growth. Please noter there will be no class June 26.

Beyond Blocks (Drop-in, All Ages)

Tuesdays, July 18, and 25 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Registration is not required.

Build and construct with different building materials every week. Come to the Youth Services desk and design something new with unusual household items.

Amazing Astronauts!

Thursday, July 20
Grades K-2 2:00-2:45 p.m.
Grades 3-6 3:00- 3:45 p.m.

Registration is required.

How do astronauts work in space? What do they eat and how do they sleep? Come investigate how these scientists help to build a better future for the planet we live on and beyond!

Traveling World of Reptiles (Drop-in, All Ages)

Monday, July 24 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. OR 1:00 -1:45 p.m.
Registration is not required.

Dave Dinaso will bring to the library an up-close live “hands on” experience about reptiles and amphibians from around the world. This program is as educational as it is fun!

Summer’s not over yet! Drop in and watch the newest DVD release here at the library. Get comfortable, have some popcorn and enjoy the matinee. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Storytime, Milk and Cookies at Panera (All Ages, Drop-in)

Registration is not required.

Location: Panera Bread, 370 W. Army Trail Road. Enjoy a special themed storytime with fingerplays and nibble on some yummy cookies and milk from Panera!
