CareerOneStop CareerOneStop is a U.S. Department of Labor-sponsored Web site that offers career resources and workforce information to job seekers, students, businesses, and workforce professionals to foster talent development in a global economy.
O'NET
The O*NET database includes information on skills, abilities, knowledges, work activities, and interests associated with occupations. This information can be used to facilitate career exploration, vocational counseling, and a variety of human resources functions, such as developing job orders and position descriptions and aligning training with current workplace needs.
Information in O*NET is available for over 950 occupations. Each occupational title and code is based on the most current version (1999) of the Standard Occupational Classification system.
Career Click
This site provides information on over 700 careers in the state of Illinois. It is a joint project between the Illinois Department of Job Security and Illinois etc. It has links to the IDES Illinois Skills Match web site.

A site maintained by Skokie Public Library focuses on resources of particular interest to job hunters in the Chicago Area. It includes lists of job leads by field, links to local job ads, and useful articles for the job seeker.
JobStar Central
Bay Area Library & Information System (BALIS), a regional library agency serving public libraries in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco Counties, is the organization responsible for JobStar. Although this site originates in California, there is information that applies nationwide.

The meetings often include a featured speaker with practical advice on a variety of topics including: job search strategies, effective networking, resume preparation and critiquing, interviewing skills and techniques, dealing with COBRA and health insurance, starting your own business, personal finance/budgeting and many other topics to assist job seekers in a variety of areas. There are also networking opportunities at each meeting. Meetings are 7-9 PM on the third Wednesday each month.
