Request an Item from Another Library
- Search for the item in the library catalog.
- From the Search Results page, click on the title of the item you want to request.
- To place a hold, click on the "Place Hold" link on the right side of the screen.
- Enter your library card number and PIN, and then click "Log In" button. Your library card number is located under the barcode on your card. If you have never logged in and personalized your PIN, the default PIN is changeme.
- Review your selection and click the "Place Hold" button.
- You should receive a message that says "Hold(s) Placed."
You will be notified when the item is ready for pick up. If you are not notified, please call the Reference Desk at (630) 924-2730 for further assistance.
If an item is on shelf at Bloomingdale Public Library, you can also call the Reference Desk to have the item pulled for you.
WorldCat - Interlibrary Loan ServiceUse WorldCat for items that are NOT in the library catalog. To place an item on hold using WorldCat, you must have a valid Bloomingdale Public Library card.

- Search for the item you would like to request. From the Search Results, click on name of the item you want to request.
- To request the item, click on the "Request Item through Interlibrary Loan" button.
- Fill out the form and click SUBMIT. Starred fields * are required.
You should receive a message that your request was successful. You will be notified when the item is ready for you to pick up. Please note: WorldCat requests are limited to five outstanding at one time.
