Juliette Gordon Low (1860-1927) was the founder of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. A wealthy socialite of the United States and Great Britain, Juliette spent most of her life enjoying the recreations of the privileged classes. After meeting the founder of the Boy Scouts, Sir Robert Baden-Powell, she discovered a social cause to which she would devote the rest of her life. An enthusiastic organizer and fundraiser, she led the formation of the Girl Scouts of the USA in 1912. By the time of her death, the Girl Scouts had become a successful national organization with thousands of members.

For competitors who love intense action, defeat all challengers during our BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend tournament. Bring a friend and take out the competition during our team Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament. Win prizes by showing you’re the ultimate gamer!

- Three 90 second rounds, all stages available
- No unlimited characters, all other characters available
- No stylish mode
- Double elimination tournament
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Team Tournament Rules
- Match will be 8 minutes with 3 stock lives, 2 versus 2
- Available stages: Battlefield, Final Destination, and Smashville
- All characters available. Players can also switch characters between matches
- All items will be turned off for the entire tournament
- Bring your own 2 person team or we’ll match you with another player on the day of the tournament
- Double elimination tournament

Heart Saver CPR

Learn CPR basics from local firefighter and paramedic, Jeff Skelley, owner of My Life Saver CPR. This hands-on class designed for the general public will cover adult, child, and infant CPR and choking, and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator for heart attacks. The class costs $25 for the three hour session, and each attendee will receive a Heartsaver CPR card from the American Heart Association that is good for two years. Please register for this course in the Business Office. In order to receive a full refund, you must cancel your registration 48 hours before the program begins. Visit the librarians on the first Thursday of every month for a quick craft lesson. They'll supply the materials to get you started, and you can finish on your own. Please note due to the Youth Services Department remodeling there will be no craft day on November 1. But be sure to drop in for our Thanksgiving Craft Day on Wednesday, November 21 anytime betwen 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.!

Now is your chance to vote for one of the book characters running in our Kid's Vote Too! Campaign. Just like the adults you will receive your very own "I Voted" sticker. Stop in anytime during November 1-10 and cast your ballot. The winner will be announced Friday, November 16th. The fun continues after the first of the year when there will be an inaugural party for the winner in January over Winter Break.

Stop by the Youth Services Department anytime during the month of November to pick up a bag with a surprise book inside! The Bloomingdale Public Library and the Friends of the Library will once again be sponsoring the Village of Bloomingdale Community Tree at the Brookfield Zoo. You are invited to come create a craft that will become a part of the tree at the zoo. The families of all who have created ornaments will be eligible to win tickets to the zoo to help decorate the tree on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 1:30-3:00 p.m.

We have a great night planned for families! Join other families in the village and throughout Illinois to celebrate Family Reading Night at the library. Clifford the Big Red Dog will be here and available for photos. Families will have the opportunity to hear about some new and favorite books and take part in other fun activities. There will be crafts and each child will have the opportunity to choose a book of their own to take home.
